THE MEN'S INSTITUTE - CALLING NEW MEMBERS!

Here in Berrynarbor we are very lucky to have a Club with excellent facilities, including a snooker table and a licence to sell alcohol.

We, the members, would like to make all men-folk, young or old, and particularly newcomers to the village or surrounding area, aware of this facility, which can be used both in the afternoons and evenings, or even in the mornings!

Like so many club premises, the cost of upkeep has increased and the more members we have, the merrier, as well as helping the finances! Annual membership is currently £15.00 and for just 50p per person, you can have a game of snooker - can you get better value?

If you are interested in using these facilities you would be made most welcome. For further details, please ring our Club Chairman, Tony Summers, on [012271] 883600.

BERRYNARBOR MEN'S INSTITUTE

The Institute held their Annual Awards Presentation Dinner on Saturday, 22nd November, at Ilfracombe Golf Club. After an excellent meal, Chairman Tony Summers proposed toasts to 'Absent Friends' and to 'The continued success of the Institute'. He then presented the trophies for the 2007-2008 season.

MEN'S INSTITUTE

On Saturday, 14th March, a very enjoyable evening was held in the Men's Institute, when a snooker competition was run for a Shield given in memory of the Past President, Leonard Bowden. The Shield was presented to the Club by Mr. Brian Dinnicombe, Mr. Bowden's son-in-law. The winner was Gerry Marangone and the runner-up was Matthew Walls. The referee was Vic Cornish.

MEN'S INSTITUTE

The Men's Institute held their Christmas party on Friday, 14th December. Carol singing, lead by Preb. Eppinestone and Gerry Marangone was accompanied by Phil Bridle on the organ. Refreshments were provided by Jackie and John Weaver and Josef Belka organised the draw and decorated the room.

At the end of a very enjoyable evening, the Chairman, Brian Boyd, thanked everyone who had helped in any way whatsoever.

The Christmas Party was held in the Club Room on Friday, 22nd December. Carol singing was led by Gerry Marangone and refreshments were arranged by Jaqui and John Weaver and Carol Holland. A draw in aid of the Scanner Appeal Fund raised £150. The winners were: John Clark, Kenny Richards, John Weaver, Len Bowden, Jill, Phil Bridle, Gwen Squires, Noel Stokes and John Huxtable. Various prizes were then auctioned for the Appeal.

BERRYNARBOR MEN'S INSTITUTE

On Friday 15th September, the Men's Institute held a special evening at which a cheque for £200.20 was presented to Mrs. Carol MCormack, Director of the North Devon Scanner Appeal. This money was raised by Institute members over a 14 month period, via raffles, etc. The organisers were Ray Toms and Ivan Clark. Well done Berrynarbor Men' s Institute!
